Closing Thoughts About Fly Messages and Life Lessons from the Fly The more solid my inner peace is, the more compliant external irritations become in my request of their removal in my experience. In my case, I often calmly state, “Remove your presence” to a fly while I’m in a mellow, harmonic state. Prove you will not allow it to shake your tranquility. If we let a fly tick us off…then how are we responding to the bigger distractions and irritants in our lives? Let the fly be a practice of mindfulness. Small interruptions can be tests of our resolve to maintain inner harmony and peace. The fly is a great reminder that we can overcome irritants, and we’re likely better off if we do. To explain, if my calm and cool state is rattled by a wee fly, then I’ve got some internal searching to do. However, I’m also the first to admit that if a teeny tiny fly is aggravating me.then that fly isn’t the main problem. Reassess Irritations: I’ll be the first to admit, that pesky fly buzzing around the picnic can be a buzz-kill. At the very least, try to reuse as much as possible and be mindful of managing waste. If you don’t have a recycling program in your area, think about starting one. Make a commitment to recycling (if you don’t already) to minimize waste on our planet. Try folding last night’s leftovers into a frittata instead of chucking it in the trash. Consider repurposing objects around the home or office instead of tossing them into landfills. By association, the fly lessons include invitations for us to do the same. The fly takes advantage of waste by breaking it down for energy. When it keeps on showing up in our lives it might be a signal to become more aware of how we are handling our resources (and our waste). Waste Not Want Not: The fly is often a sign about consumption…specifically, mindful consumption. Perhaps the fly is trying to share something with you…maybe these thoughts about fly lessons might ring a few bells for you…

While its presence may seem irritating…if it keeps on getting your attention, there is a message. When the fly keeps on buzzing in your awareness, it’s likely a good time to take heed. Furthermore, sometimes we need small irritants to remind us how good life is. The fly reminds us to try not to sweat the small stuff. We all encounter pesky things in life that pester us. No doubt about it, flies can be a nuisance. If you still can’t bring yourself to get all cozy with the fly, then consider this: Sometimes the fly goes against our grain to remind us to quit getting pissed about the small stuff. This includes emotional clutter as well as avoiding hoarding status in our homes. Flies encourage us to get creative about managing the clutter in our lives. When the fly buzzes into our awareness, it’s time to think about re-purposing.

Where there is rot, the fly is sure to trot…err, well, you know what I mean. They are one of Nature’s most prolific and effective recyclers. They are extraordinary clean-freaks, in that they eat decay. Pestilence-spreading aside, the humble fly has a few important lessons to share. Sure, they’re known to carry disease like an airliner carries luggage…but let’s not get picky. If nothing else, this creature is a great symbol of the unappreciated and misunderstood. The fly may often be considered a lowly (or even unwanted) creature, but it has its messages and lessons for us humans.
